Should I get a credit card? How do you choose the best credit card?

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

I just finished college, and work full time. I have a debit card, and building good credit from paying off loans. A lot of people have been telling me to get a credit card, but I wonder if it really is necessary. Please give me some good reasons to get a credit card other than building good credit. The only other advantage I know about is those point-system/rewards credit cards, that earn you miles or other things. And what is the best credit card to get for a first time credit card holder? The number of choices are a little overwhelming. How did you choose your first/main credit card?

How can I start a small Credit Card Company?

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

I am curious to know how much start up money would be needed to start a small Credit Card Company. I am interested in extending credit with Secured Credit Cards with low limits for individuals looking to establish or re-establish credit by a secured credit card. Also I have thought about prepaid debit cards for those in chexsystems and cannot get conventional checking accounts.

Any help?
What I mean is not to broker, but to be able to start a very small company directly.

How much credit card company charge for each transaction?

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

How much credit card company charge for each transaction? Since credit card company gives reward credit for using their cards, in situations I can use either case or check, should I opt for credit cards because they offer reward points? Or it does no matter? Thank you for suggestions?
I pay off the statement balance each month.

What is a good credit limit for a first credit card?

Monday, October 27th, 2008

I got my first credit card a couple years ago via Bank of America, and my current credit limit is $9000. Since I don’t have any experience with credit cards in the past, I’m wondering if this is good or not? Is there anyway I can increase this limit? What do most credit card limits start at?

If I have a credit card that I do not use, how does this account reflect on my credit report? Does it show an open account in good standing?

How do you reestablish a credit card grace period?

Monday, October 27th, 2008

I always pay my credit cards in full every month, but I was wondering how carrying a balance works.

Say you charge $200 on the card and pay only $100 when payment is due. You charge NOTHING on the credit card the next month, and after the statement closes, you’re imposed a $10 finance charge.

To re-establish the grace period, do you have to pay $110? Or just the $100 principal? Or what?

What is the easiest student credit card to get?

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

I’ve already applied for 2 other cards and have been denied because I have not revolving credit history. But they weren’t student credit cards, which is what I guess I should have applied for first. Anyway what would be the easiest student credit card to get? Share your experiences please.
