I reported my credit card for fraud, and the bank put a derogatory mark on my credit report. Is that correct?

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

I got a letter from a company their credit card database had been accessed illegally and that the credit card I used may be at risk for fraud. They recommended that I contact my bank to cancel the card I used to purchase one of their products online. I called my bank immediately and had the card canceled and had another one issued. Now a month laster I’m looking at my credit report and there is a derogatory mark on my credit report from my bank saying that the card was lost or stolen under 2 of the 3 credit reporting agency’s. .
Is this correct? Do I get penalized for reporting possible fraud to my credit card?

How and why does a credit card company like Capitol One issue cards to me through 2 or more different issuers?

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

How can they offer me card from Capitol One and an Amazon Capitol One and a University Capitol One card and they are all different accounts. How is the money made by the issuer and the original credit card company? How does it work?

Is a walmart credit card a good stepping stone to getting a regular credit card?

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Hi, My husband are trying to build our credit score, we’ve always paid all of our bills on time and he has a good paying job (three years) we have no debts and 4,000 in savings
and we were approved at wamu(our bank) but then a few weeks later we got a letter saying they could not offer us credit because lack of credit.
we recently got our credit report and there isn’t anything on it really. (I thought our rent and bills and cell counted for something!)

well anyways, would walmart give us a card?
do they report to the credit agencies?
any other ideas?

any help is greatly appreciated!
Pattern fall….that is really dumb…sorry.
If you don’t have credit you can’t really get a home loan…or even a good car loan.
the reason we are trying to build our credit is to buy a home.

What credit card can I get if I have no credit at all?

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

I’ve applied at my bank (washington mutual), discover card, and for a wal-mart card. I was denied for all of them because I have no credit. Where can I apply?

Why is it bad for credit to cancel a card?

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

I have 3 credit cards that I just never use. I have kept them for emergency purposes. If I need a credit card for something, I just use my debit card. (Is this really a bad thing?)
Anyhow, one of the creditors just informed me that they will charge a fee even if you have a zero balance, and also an extra fee for foreign purchases. Of course, I want to cancel. Is this bad? Also, I already cancelled 2 dept store cards, Lerner Spiegel, last year.

I want to settle a credit card debt, how should I approach the credit card company?

Friday, February 27th, 2009

I have a credit card that I owe about $2500 on and I am past due. I am expecting to receive some money and would like to make an offer to pay it off. How much should I offer? Also, I wish to request that they report it to the credit bureaus as paid, what wording do I use?

Can I reject a credit card after applying for and receiving it?

Friday, February 27th, 2009

My Capitol One Platinum card’s rate just went up 10 points for no reason at all (they said they did it to everyone). I would like to get a new card but it’s been a while since I had to do this and I’m trying to avoid the bait-and-switch interest rate tricks they play. If I apply for a Platinum card that advertises, say 7.9%, then they send me a different card that has a higher rate, can I cancel it before using it without hurting my credit score?

How do Credit Card companies determine your credit line?

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

I was just curious as to how credit card companies determine what your credit line will be once you are approved for a card, and if you get a higher limit will it look better for your credit?

How could I accept credit card payments from my customers?

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

I run a small start-up company but sell to very large banks who want to pay me by credit card. I do not more than ten transaction in an year. I find the credit card payment systems of banks to be too expensive and the PayPal is not liked by the big banks.
