What would happen to my credit card if the bank fails?

March 26th, 2009 | Posted in Credit Card   Comments Off

I have a WaMu credit card (love it because it has a good interest rate AND I can see my credit score 24/7 at no charge). They are in trouble financially for the same reason as a lot of other banks are. So if they go under or get sold or some other catastrophic thing happens to WaMu (or indeed to any credit card issuer), what happens to my credit card account? Can they demand all outstanding balances as immediately due and payable?

What happens if I decided not to activate credit card?

March 24th, 2009 | Posted in Credit Card   Comments Off

I applied for a credit card from Credit One bank after I got an offer in the mail, but now that I got it I decided that I don’t want it or need it. Apart from that, the annual fee is ridiculous. They already sent me the statement for a $75 annual fee with a min payment of $20 even before the card itself arrived. Can I just not activate the card and ask them to close the account? I don’t need the card and that annual fee is ridiculous.

How can someone get a credit card if they are living in a country whose banks do not issue credit cards?

March 22nd, 2009 | Posted in Credit Card   Comments Off

My friend lives in Morocco and would like to get a Visa or MasterCard credit card to make online purchases. Unfortunately, no banks in this country, to our knowledge, issue credit cards. Is there an international bank or other solution? A low-limit card will suffice. Thank you

What is the best Visa Credit Card to get that includes rewards and cash back with low interest rates?

March 19th, 2009 | Posted in Credit Card   Comments Off

I have a low interest rate credit card through my University, however it offers no cash back or rewards program. I am solely looking for a good VISA,not anything else, rewards or cash back program that doesn’t get carried away with high interest rates.

Which credit card is better for a persons 1st credit card, espically the age of 18 years old?

March 19th, 2009 | Posted in Credit Card   Comments Off

There are many credit cards.
So many to choose from, so many options, the ones that charge a lot of money b/c of it’s late fees.

Which credit card is good for me? I’ll be 18 years old on the 25th, I atleast want one.

What are the negative long term consequences of card hopping to pay off my high interest credit cards?

March 17th, 2009 | Posted in Credit Card   Comments Off

I have been cautioned against taking a line of credit to pay off high interest credit card balances. Instead, I have been encouraged to keep using the 0% interest credit card offers for as long as it is offered at zero %. These cards are a dime of dozen these days.

As with anything in life, it is what you don’t know that hurts you. If I embark in doing the card hopping strategy, I don’t know what the long term consequences are in using these 0% offers. So, I kindly ask you the following questions:

1. Will it hurt my credit rating? Right now I have a very good credit score. I pay all my bills on time. It is the finance charges that are killing me.

2. Should I close the expiring 0% card as I open the new 0% card. At the end of 5 years I don’t want to have a trail of credit cards that are still open balance. Or should I?

When repairing your credit which type of credit card is better?

March 17th, 2009 | Posted in Credit Card   Comments Off

A secured credit card or a unsecured credit card? From my experience, I got an unsecured card which started out with a $250 credit limit and also had a fee for obtaining the card. Within a year the credit limit went up to $900 then I cancelled it when better offers came in % wise. That was a good start for me. But my bro-in-law is asking about secured credit cards? Which is better and will they both help rebuild your credit in the same way?
